Community Support Fund 2010-2011

MISSION STATEMENT of the Community Support Fund of San Patricio by the Sea Church

With God’s help and direction in all projects, through financial and other donations and volunteer commitment, the Community Support Fund with the approval of San Patricio-by-the-Sea Church Board will undertake projects that provide aid and support for adults and children in the communities of Bahia de Navidad in the following areas:

              1. Education:  Identify and undertake projects for the educational needs of children

              2. Women: Provide aid and support in strengthening the insight and capacity of women to improve the well-being of their families.

               3.  Food:  In partnership with other agencies and organizations, support feeding programs

  • In December, 2010, the CSF task force was able to ‘partner’ with DIF (Desarrollo Integral de la Familia), the government department that provides social assistance for families, through the cooperation of a social worker and a director of DIF.  This has proven to be a productive, worthwhile venture and the task force hopes to continue with this work.  The task force has been heartened by the response to collect clothing, shoes, disposable diapers  (adult and baby), blankets, non-perishable foods, including milk and baby formula powder, and rice and beans through donated items from church attendees and others in the communities of Melaque and Barra de Navidad.   Through DIF, the items are distributed to needy families in several communities

MAY WE BE CHRIST'S HANDS AND FEET!

On January 8th, 2011, a children’s fiesta was held in Villa Pinal (to view a video, click here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mROMv7m1yP8   where 300+ children received gifts that were donated or purchased through monetary donations.  Children from ages 0-3 were given stuffed toys, children from ages 4-5 were given crayons and coloring books, and school-aged children received school supplies and gender appropriate gifts of toys and personal hygiene.  All children received cookies and refreshments as well as candy.  Pinata activities, as usual, were a highlight for the children.  The CSF task force was delighted with the help of many volunteers prior to the event in assembling gift bags and on the day of the event in organizing and handing out gifts.
